Great review. I have the MKIII plugged with my Zero DAC and I can hear some hissing. You said to get ground-loop isolator RCA cables to solve the problem. Would this do the job? [Cable Ultra 1000 Stereo Audio RCA] I can get those for 28$ plus shipping on ebay. However they are not packaged. Or, I can get the 800s packged for 27$ + shipping. Let me know what you think.

HI,
I do not understand much about electronics, but am the owner of a little dot 2+.
After reading your (very good) review, Iopened my amp to look for the switches to get a better match with my low impedance headphones.
Could I be corect to say these switches are not available on the Little dot 2+ ?
Best regards,
Dennis

No, the cable would not work as it doesn't isolate the ground loop eletrical interference. You might be able to find one in Radioshack or the alikes for a lot cheaper. You can also use the cheat plugs, but it might be less safe. This is what you want: http://www.shopping.com/xPC-RCA_Pac_Sni_1_Rca_G...
The Ld2+/++ doesn't have a switch. But it does have two caps that you can put on and off to change the impedance mode (high and low).

Hi-I'm excited to buy my first tube amp so am VERY new and novice. I am considering the LD MKIII. I run all my music from my PC harddrives - usually in WAV or FLAC format or 320 MP3. What all will I need for optimal performance. I have Sennheiser HD 570 and HD 280 Pro and just got into the Grado line with the standard SR60's . Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Anonymous,
You simply can't go wrong with the MK3.
If you are still using your computer's integrated sound, You will probably want to invest in a source (dedicated DAC). After all, the amp can only output what you put in it.

Folks, I ordered the MKIII, and have been using it now BOTH as a headphone amp, and a preamp (with CD/HDCD/SACD source) for a few days now. I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by it's sound in both regards! Everything you've heard about the MKIII is true. This amp is a GIANT KILLER in so many regards, i'ts uncanny.
I really like to read more reviews from your hand.... easy to read, with humour and yet gives an objective test.....
Compliments!!!
Erik
